My name is Nigel Beesley and I established Move Beyond Now in the Summer of 2011.
I’ve been fascinated for many years by people and the way we each work, individually and together in relationship with others. A temporary job early in my career involved scoring psychometric tests in order to match people to jobs and this fired my academic interest in psychology and the psychology of individual differences in particular. My first degree with the Open University deepened my knowledge and widened my interest in psychology and sociology.
My subsequent working life focused on how people interact with each other and with business systems in organisational settings to achieve their individual goals and organisational objectives. Coaching and training both individuals and teams formed a significant part of this work, focusing for a number of years on the management of organisational performance. I studied business management to Masters level and trained in Neuro-Linguistic Programming to improve my coaching and training skills. I also completed a certificate level course in counselling skills to give my work a more directly personal helping flavour.
I took early retirement from full time work in September 2010 to complete professional training in counselling and psychotherapy and completed my Diploma early in 2012. I’ve since been awarded my Advanced Diploma and an Honours Degree in Integrative Counselling. I'm a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and a registered psychotherapeutic counsellor with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy. I've subsequently trained and qualified as a supervisor and offer clinical supervision to a range of both qualified and trainee therapists.
I've been working voluntarily with several local organisations as well as seeing private clients. I worked for two and a half years at HMP Wayland to support individual prisoners and for five years with the Sue Lambert Trust in Norwich, supporting both male and female survivors of sexual abuse. I've been working as a sole practitioner since qualification and have now accumulated more than 1900 hours of clinical work. My experience has included a wide range of issues, including all those mentioned on other pages.
Full details of my qualifications and professional memberships are on a separate page.
